believe that our outlook about death, depends greatly on where we came from, the death experiences we've accumulated and the type of coping we have. No single individual, even community of people can definitely say that fear is attributed to a single factor. Death like pain is subjective. It is personal and our experiences may or may not encourage this fear.
Just like any 'tough' situation in an individuals life, the kind of death belief, life philosophy and other external influences we've had along our lifetime will explain and define our fear (or lack of it) regarding death.
Several case studies had indicated that, as one grows maturely, the more they are welcome to the idea of death. This might be attributed to one's acceptance to his biological vulnerability and living life to it's fullest (or hopelessness). But this is a non-confirmatory theory.
