This is because when we are doing work than in our brain is thinking that only less work is left , so we continuosly doing work without getting tired. In this case we complete the tasks in short period of time.

When we are thinking that we had so my work, of we thinking again and again that we have have list of work pending then we started work then we tired in short period of time. In this case we can not complete the tasks in time.
