Big dams and problems.
Explanation:
By constructing of large dams, we are changing the relationship between the water and land and are destroying the ecosystem balance.
There are many problems big dams can cause and they are as follows:
- Soil Erosion: The first problem ever occur because of big dams is Soil Erosion. Dams hold back the sediment load, which is found in river flow. In order to makeup for the sediment the down stream water erodes to banks and channels. The lowering of the river bed usually harms wildlife and vegetation.
- Species Extinction: Many fishes and sea creatures have becoming distinct due to the big dams. There are many harmful effects to the marine mammals population because of these dams.
- Spread of Diseases: Due to the slow movement of dams and reservoirs in the tropical region, they have become the breeding grounds for mosquitoes snails and flies, which carries many diseases with them.
- Earth Rotation: Large dams cause changes to earths rotation because the weight has shifted from oceans to reservoirs.
There are many other problems like Sedimentation, Siltation, Water logging, Salinisation.
