In the sky of Indian cricket, many stars have shone their brilliance; VVS Laxman is one of those brilliant stars. He is known for his classic and fluid batting style. Owing to his great batting skills, especially in the Test Cricket, he has become quite an icon.

He was born in Hyderabad on November 1, 1974. Born to physician parents, VVS opted cricket as his career in spite of being a brilliant student himself. He is the great grand nephew of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second president of India.

VVS scored 8,871 runs in 134 Test matches, averaging 45.97. He scored 17 centuries and 56 haf-centuries with the highest score 281 against Australia in 2000-01. This great batsman announced retirement from International cricket on August 18, 2012.

Currently he is a famous commentator for International matches and is also in the advisory committee of BCCI, The Board of Control for Cricket in India.
