answered thisIn April Anne wrote about the 'food-cycles' in the annexe. For a long time people in the annexe ate nothing but endive- endive with sand, endive without sand, endive with mashed potatoes etc. Then it was followed by kohlrabi, salsify, cucumbers,tomatoes etc.Then they had to eat sauerkraut everyday for lunch and dinner. Therewere no vegetables at all. Their lunch menu consist of brown peas, split pea soup,potatoes, turnip greens,etc. Due to bread shortage they had to eat potatoes at every meal . For making soup they chose brown beans, navy beans, potatoes, soup packages of vegetable, bean or chicken soup. For dinner they had potatoes with gravy and beetroot salad. The highpoint of their weeklyslice was liverwurst and the jam on their unbuttered bread .
