2. Heterotrophic mode : In this mode of nutrition, Complex substances are broken down into smaller substances by the action of certain biocatalysts called enzymes.

It is furher divided into:

a. holozoic mode of nutrition

b. parasitic mode of nutrition


c. saprophytic mode of nutrition.
