A vibration causes the surrounding medium(usually air), to also vibrate in the same way, causing a pressure wave which your ears pick up assound. Sound / noise etc. are vibrations. You hear them because thesound waves/ tiny vibrations are hitting the inside of your ear. Vibration doesn't make sound, it is sound.

extra energy causes the string to vibrate more, which helps it move more air particles for a longer time. A string plucked with force has greater amplitude, and greater amplitude makes the sound louder when it reaches your ear. Volume depends on amplitude. Greater amplitude produces louder sounds.
