It takes one and a half hour of car ride from Ahmedabad to reach the sanctuary where manually driven boats are available at varied rates ranging from 2000 INR to 3500 INR. There is no direct entry to the water body as earlier and you have to buy a ticket and hire a car to cover the 2km distance inside the village. The boat-lords are localites who catch fishes and construct boats in off-season.

I reached there by 4 pm in the afternoon, hired a boat after a lot of bargaining that was pushed by a man named Ashok and my guide was Salim. I was asked to buy packets of local gujarati snacks called “gaathiya”. As the boat started, there was a huge flock of sea gulls moving along us. There were small islands named after the local snacks or the bushes grown on them. Birds were all over and along to give a tranquility and essence of being in a different world.
