Writing Practice

• Imagine reading your favourite book — how does the experience feel like? Is
the book a shiny new one or has it turned yellowish with time? Are the edges
of the page curled? Do the words speak to you or do they appear to be
happily dancing away ? Can you almost hear the author’s voice? What is the
texture of the book? Can you smell the fragrance of paper?
Describe your experience in three paragraphs. Don’t forget to give a suitable
title to your write-up.

Answer:

"Reading has been shown to put our brains into a pleasurable trance-like state, similar to meditation, and it brings the same health benefits of deep relaxation and inner calm," according to the New Yorker. Nothing promotes happiness like inner calm.
