Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak wrote Shrimadh Bhagvad Gita Rahasya during the time he was in prison in Prison in Mandalay, Burma for sedition by the British.

He was the first leader of of the Indian Independence Movement and a strong swaraj advocate.

The book was written in Marathi ina span of four months in 1915. It is an intepretation of the bhagwad gita and explains the principles and teachings of Karma Yoga which was a vital part of bhagwad gita.
