“To James” is a poem by the American poet Frank Smith Horne (1899-1974).
It is evident from the poem that the poet was very much into sports, especially running.A highly motivational piece, he uses powerful and figurative language. The poem pushes the runner to put all that he can into the race. The line "run high, run hard save nothing and finish.", is very compelling. It may be surmised that the poet is motivating people who have given up, to look forward and overcome all obstacles in life, for victory is definitely in sight for those who strive hard.
