Edge should be sharp in order to induce maximum pressure with limited or minimum force.

We know, Pressure = Force / Area.

or Pressure is inversely proportional to area.

The larger the area, the lesser the pressure will be.

Sharp objects have less area.

And thus increasing pressure and at the same time, reducing effort, as the same force wouldn't be needed if the object was sharp than it was blunt.
