These are the thread like structure which carry a number of genes. Genes are the unit of inheritance. They are responsible for the transfer of characteristics from parents to their off springs. Chromosomes can be only seen when cell divides.

There are many levels of cell division:-

It is the smallest unit of life and has definite structure and function.

b.)\bold{Tissues}
The group of similar cells, network together to perform a function.

c.)\bold{Organs}
Different tissue combine together to perform a particular function.

For example:-Head, Liver

d.)\bold{Organ\:system}
All organs work together to do a big job or function.

e.)\bold{Organisms}
Organ system together constitutes the whole organisms.
