Answer:
The Famous Five are getting old
As a child I read everything I could find, including the complete series of the Famous Five. I was not very fond of the books, because they are all following the same pattern and the books are very predictable. Nevertheless some children liked the series very much, and there was even a tv series in that time.
There are probably a lot of adults who are remembering the Famous Five. But please, do not buy the books for your children just for nostalgic reasons. The characters are ’’flat’’ and not at all emancipated. The story is developing too slow for modern children. There are so many good youth books available nowadays!
