Explanation: 1) On 29 March 1857, Mangal Pandey, a young soldier was hanged to death for attacking his officers in Barrackpore .                                              2) some days later , some sepoys of the regiment at meerut refused to do the army drill using the new cartridges which were suspected of being coated with fat of cows and pig.

3) In response to this revolt, soldiers were captured and were put in jail.

4) they attack and killed british officers.                                                                                   5) on 10 may  the soldiers marched to the jail to Meerut and released the imprisoned sepoys                                                                                                                           6) they captured guns and ammunition and set fire to the buildinds and properties of britishrs and declared war on firangis.
