SOLUTION:-

According to Question

$x - \frac{1}{2} \times \frac{1}{2}$

By applying BODMAS RULE

STEP 1:- Multiply

$x - \frac{1 \times 1}{2 \times 2} = \frac{1}{8} \\ x - \frac{1}{4} = \frac{1}{8}$

When we shift an integer from one side to another we change its signs.

$x = \frac{1}{8} + \frac{1}{4}$

By taking LCM to make denominator equal LCM= 8

$x = \frac{1 \times 1}{8 \times 1} + \frac{1 \times 2}{4 \times 2} \\ x = \frac{1}{8} + \frac{2}{8}$
