• Use cross multiplication

$\\ \rm\longmapsto 8(x+1)=2(2x+3)$

$\\ \rm\longmapsto 8x+8=4x+6$

$\\ \rm\longmapsto 8x-4x=6-8$

$\\ \rm\longmapsto 4x=-2$

$\\ \rm\longmapsto x=\dfrac{-2}{4}$
