aloha user!!

we are given two equations:

◆ x = -1 + 2y----------(1)
◆ x = 9 - 2y-----------(2)

when we put the value of x from 1st equation in second equation we get:

x= 9 - 2y
-1 + 2y = 9 - 2y
2y + 2y = 9 + 1 ( transposing -2y and -1 )
4y = 10 ( dividing 10 by 4 )
y = 10/4
y = 5/2

putting the value of y in any equation to get the value of x.

x = -1 + 2y
x= -1 + 2( 5/2 )
x = -1 + 5
x = 4

hope it helps !!

good life !!

Subsitution

x = -1 + 2y
x = 9 - 2y

x = x
-1 + 2y = 9 - 2y
4y = 10
y = 10 / 4
y = 5/2

x= 9 - 2y
x = 9 - 10 / 2
x = 18 / 2 - 10 / 2
x = 8 / 2
x = 4
