Answer:

1 / 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Given---> x + 1 = 5y and 2x + 3 = 13y

To find ---> Value of 2x - 3y

Solution---> x + 1 = 5y .....................(1)

2x + 3 = 13y ..................(2)

We solve these equation by substitution method, in this method we find value of one variable in terms of other variable from one equation and put its value in another equation.

x + 1 = 5y

=> x = 5y - 1

Putting x = 5y - 1 in equation ( 2 ),

2x + 3 = 13y

=> 2 ( 5y - 1 ) + 3 = 13y

=> 10 y - 2 + 3 = 13y

=> 1 = 13y - 10y

=> 1 = 3y

=> y = 1 / 3

Putting y = 1 / 3 in equation ( 1 )

=> x + 1 = 5y

=> x + 1 = 5 ( 1 / 3 )

=> x = ( 5 / 3 ) - 1

=> x = ( 5 - 3 ) / 3

=> x = 2 / 3

Now 2x - 3y = 2 ( 2 / 3 ) - 3 ( 1 / 3 )

= ( 4 / 3 ) - 1

= ( 4 - 3 ) / 3

2x - 3y = 1 / 3
