Answer :-

x = -2/7

Solution :-

 \sf  \dfrac{x + 1}{2x + 1} =  \dfrac{5}{3}

By cross multiplication :-

⇒ (x + 1)3 = 5(2x + 1)

⇒ x(3) + 1(3) = 5(2x) + 5(1)

⇒ 3x + 3 = 10x + 5

Transpose 3 to RHS

⇒ 3x = 10x + 5 - 3

Transpose 10x to LHS

⇒ 3x - 10x = 2

⇒ - 7x = 2

Transpose - 7 to RHS

⇒ x = 2/(-7)

⇒ x = -2/7
