Hie!!

(x - 1) (x + 2) = 0

(x - 1) = 0 OR (x + 2) = 0

x = 1 OR x = -2

So, The roots are real and unequal/distinguish.

For This Quadratic Equation Descrimnant is > 0.

(x - 1)(x + 2) \\  =  > x {}^{2}  + 2x - x - 2 \\  =  > x {}^{2}  + x - 2 \\  =  > ax {}^{2}  + bx + c = 0 \\  =  > so \: the \: roots \: are \:  \\  =  > b {}^{2}  - 4ac \\  =  > 1 {}^{2}  - 4 \times 1 \times  ( - 2) \\  =  > 1 + 8 \\  =  > 9  \: and \: \\  =  > b {}^{2}  + 4ac \\  =  > 1 {}^{2}  + 4 \times 1 \times ( - 2) \\  =  > 1 - 8 \\  =  >  - 7 \:  \:  \:  \: so \: its \: not \: the \: root \: of \: this \: equation \:

I hope that helps you
