x + 1/ x = - 2 then find x^3 + 1/x^3

Answer 1

x +1/x = -2

Cube on both sides,

(x + 1/x)³ =  (-2)³
--------------------------------

Used Formula,

(a + 1/a)³= a³ + b³ + 3ab (a+b)
---------------------------------

x³ + 1/x³ + 3(1)(x +1/x) = -8 

x³ + 1/x³ + 3(-2) = -8

x³ + 1/x³  -6 = -8

x³ +1/x³ =  -8 + 6

x³+ 1/x³ =  -2
