Step 1: Multiply both sides by x^2-x-2.

x2+3x+2=x2−x−2

x2+3x+2−x2=x2−x−2−x2(Subtract x^2 from both sides)

3x+2=−x−2

3x+2+x=−x−2+x(Add x to both sides)

4x+2=−2

4x+2−2=−2−2(Subtract 2 from both sides)

4x=−4

(Divide both sides by 4)

x=−1
