x - \frac{1}{ x} = 3 \\ \frac{ {x }^{2} - 1 }{x} = 3 \\ {x}^{2} - 3x - 1 = 0 \\ using \: quadratic \: formula \\ \frac{ - b ( + - ) \sqrt{ {b}^{2} - 4ac } }{2a} \\ \frac{3 + \sqrt{9 + 4} }{2} = \frac{3 + \sqrt{13} }{2} \\ or \: \frac{3 - \sqrt{13} }{2} \\ hence \: its \: factors \: are \: \\ (x - \frac{3 + \sqrt{13} }{2} )(x - \frac{3 - \sqrt{13} }{2} )
