(x + 1)(x + 3) = (x - 1)(x - 4)

We know that,

(x+a)(x+b)= x²+(a+b)x+ab

And

(x-a)(x-b) = x²-(a+b)x+ab

Using the identities,

x²+(1+3)x+1×3 = -(1+4)+1×4

→ x²+4x+3 = x²-5x+4

Since, is present on both the sides of the equation, therefore it will get cancelled.

4x + 3 = -5x + 4

Clearly, It becomes a linear equation (or an equation with degree 1)

Hence, it's not a quadratic equation.
