x+1/x=4 find the value of x^2+1/x^2

Hey !!

x + 1 /4 = 4 -----1)

now, as we know that (a +b)² = a²+ b² + 2ab
like that

(x+ 1/x)² = x² + 1/x² + 2×x×1/x

(4)² = x² + 1/x² + 2 ✓ [from equation 1]

16 -2 = x² + 1/x²

14 = x² + 1/x²

hence 14 is answer

x+1/x = 4

x²+1/x² = (x+1/x)² - 2
            = (4)² - 2
            = 16 - 2
            = 14
