Answer:

4 \sqrt{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

x  +  \frac{1}{x}  = 6

(x +  \frac{1}{x} ) {}^{2}  =  {6}^{2} = 36

 {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  + 2 = 36

 {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{  {x}^{2}  }  = 36 - 2 = 34

(x -  \frac{1}{x} ) {}^{2}  + 2 = 34

 {(x -  \frac{1}{x} )}^{2}  = 34 - 2 = 32

x  - \frac{1}{x}  =  \sqrt{32}

x  -   \frac{1}{x}  = 4 \sqrt{2}

if you want answer like this

 \frac{x + 1}{x}  = 6

so x + 1 = 6x

1 = 6x - x

1 = 5x

 \frac{1}{5}  = x

now for

 \frac{x - 1}{x}   \\  \\  =  \frac{ \frac{1}{5}  - 1}{ \frac{1}{5} }  \\  \\  =  \frac{ \frac{1 - 5}{5} }{ \frac{1}{5} }  \\  \\  =  - 4

I hope it helps you
