Answer:

As we know (a-b)=[(a+b)^2-4ab]^1/2

It is given that x+1/x=6

So assume that a=x and b=1/x

Substitute  in the formula

We get (x-1/x)=[(6)^2-4(x.1/x)]^1/2

(x-1/x)=[36-4]^1/2=(32)^1/2

=4(2)^1/2

  (OR)

=   (32)^1/2
