On taking LCM

3x + 4y = 15×24

Multiplying 2 in eq 1 , we get

2x + 4y = 280 -----------eq 3

Subtracting eq 2 from eq 3, we get

2x + 4y - 3x - 4y =280 - 360

-x = -80

Cancelling minus sign , we get

X = 80

Using x = 80 in eq 1, we get

x + 2y = 140

80 + 2y = 140

2y = 140 - 80

2y = 60

y = 30

Therefore

X = 80
