Given Equation is x - (18/x) = 6

⇒ x² - 18 = 6x

⇒ x² - 6x = 18

⇒ x² - 6x - 18 = 0

On comparing with ax² + bx + c = 0, we get

a = 1, b = -6, c = -18.

∴ D = b² - 4ac

     = (-6)² - 4(1)(-18)

     = 36 + 72

     = 108.

The solutions are:

x = -b ±  √D/2a

 = -(-6) ± √108/2

 = (6 ± √108)/2

 = (6 ± 6√3)/2

 = 3 ± 3√3

 = 3 + 3(1.732), 3 - 3(1.732)

 = 8.19, -2.19

Hope it helps!
