Given x^2 - (1 + root 2) x + root 2 = 0
x^2 - x - root 2 x + root 2 = 0
x(x-1) - root 2(x - 1) = 0
x - root 2 = 0 (or) x - 1 = 0
x = root 2 (or) x = 1.
