LHS=(x−a)(x−b)3x;RHS=x−a2+x−b1=(x−a)(x−b)2(x−b)+(x−a)
LHS=RHS
3X=2(x−b)+(x−a)−−1)
let x=a in the eqn. (1)
3a=2(a−b)
a=−2b
So; a/b=−2/1
a:b=−2:1
