 {x}^{2}  - (2 -  \sqrt{5} )x - 2 \sqrt{5}

 =  {x}^{2}  - 2x +  \sqrt{5} x - 2 \sqrt{5}

 = x(x - 2) +  \sqrt{5} (x - 2)

 = (x - 2)(x +  \sqrt{5} )

x \:  \: can  \: \: be \:  \: either \:  \: 2 \:  \: or  \: \:  -  \sqrt{5}
