For equation ax + bx + c = 0

Roots are given as

-b + b 4ac

2a

Now let us compare ax + bx+c O with x – 2x +

3 = 0 to find the values of a, b, c

After it we can directly put a, b, c into the formula to

find the roots

By comparing a = 1, b = -2, c = 3

So roots -(-2) + (-2)2 – 4(1)(3)

2 x 1

24 - 12

2

2 士V 8

2

= 1+iv2

Hence the roots of the equation x²-2x + 3 = 0 are

imaginary
