Solution

Given :-

  • x/2 + 2y/3 = -1 _________(1)
  • x - y/3 = 3 ____________(2)

Find :-

  • Value of x & y.

Explanation

Substitution Method.

By, equ(2)

  • x = 3 + y/3 __________(3)

Keep Value of x in equ(1)

==> (3 + y/3)/2 + 2y/3 = -1

==> (9+y)/6 + 2y/3 = -1

==> (9 + y) + 4y = -6

==> 5y = -6 - 9

==> 5y = - 15

==> y = -15/5

==> y = -3

Keep Value of y in equ(3)

==> x = 3 + (-3)/3

==> x = 3 - 3/3

==> x = 3 - 1

==> x = 2

Hence

  • Value of x = 2
  • Value of y = -3
