Hi ,
x = ( 2 - √3 ) / ( 2 + √3 )
rationalize the denominator ,
x = ( 2 - √3 )(2 - √3 )/ ( 2+ √3 )(2-√3)
x = ( 2 - √3)² / [ 2² - ( √3 )² ]
x = [ 4 + 3 - 2 × 2 × √3 ] / ( 4 - 3 )
x = 7 - 4√3----( 1 )
similarly,
1/ x = ( 2 + √3 ) / ( 2 - √3)
= 7 + 4√3---( 2 )
x + 1/ x = ( 1 ) + ( 2 )
= 7 - 4√3 + 7 + 4√3
= 14
