(x²)³ = x²×x³ =

 {x}^{2  \times 3}  =  {x}^{6}

You have done wrong. It should be 6 in place of 8 .

While multiplication of the algebric expressions. If you get a condition such that the exponent of the base is having an exponent too. Then , multiply both the exponents. The product such obtained will be your new exponent for the original base.

In the words of identity :

( {x}^{a} )^{ b }  =   {x}^{ab}
