$2x/3 - x/2 = 5/9$                        ∴ transfer $2x/3$ from R.H.S to L.H.S

$2x/3 X 2/2 - x/2 X 3/3 = 5/9$       ∴ L.C.M of $3$ and $2$ is $6$

$4x/6 - 3x/6 = 5/9$

$x/6 = 5/9$

$x = 6/1 X 5/9$                                ∴ transfer $6$ from L.H.S to R.H.S

$x = 2 X 5/3$

$x=10/3$
