Answer:

x² + 7x - 9 = 0

x = - b ± √b²- 4ac / 2a

x = -7 ± √7²- 4(1)-9 / 2(1)

x = - 7 ± √49 + 36 / 2

x = -7 ± √85 / 2

x = -7 + √85/2

and

x = -7 - √85 / 2

Thank you

Subtract 9 from both sides

x²+7x-9=9-9

x²+7x-9=0

For this equation: a=1, b=7, c=-9

1x²+7x-9=0

Use quadratic formula with a=1, b=7, c=-9.

x =  \frac{ - b +  \sqrt{ {b}^{2} - 4ac } }{2a}

x =  \frac{ - (7) +  \sqrt{ {7}^{2} - 4(1)( - 9) } }{2(1)}

x =  \frac{ - 7 +  \sqrt{85}}{2}

x =  \frac{ - 7}{2}  +   \frac{ 1}{ 2}  \sqrt{85} ,x =  \frac{ - 7}{2}  +   \frac{ - 1}{ 2}  \sqrt{85}
