Answer:

If X^2-px+12=(x-3)(x-a), then what is the value of a and p?

Thanks A2A.

x^2 - px + 12 = ( x - 3)( x -a )

x^2 - px +12 = x^2 - 3x -ax + 3a

x^2 - px + 12 = x^2 - ( 3 + a ) x + 3a

Therefore, p = 3 + a, 3a = 12

a = 4; p = 3+ 4 = 7
