Get the square root of both sides.

(x+1)(x+2)=± 6

x^2+3x+2=± 6

x^2+3x+8 = 0 …(1)

x^2+3x-4 = 0 ..(2)

From (1), x1 and x2 = [-3±(9–32)^0.5]/2

= [-3±(-23)^0.5]/2

=[-3±√23i]/2

From (2), (x+4)(x-1) = 0

x3 = -4

x4 = 1.

So the values of x are: -4, 1, [-3±√23i]/2. Answer
