Given:- (x-2) (x+1) = (x-1) (x+3)

x^2 + x - 2x - 2 = x^2 + 3x - 1x + 3

Now cancel x^2 from both sides

x - 2x - 2 = 3x - 1x + 3

x - 2x - 2 - 3 = 2x

Again Cancel 2x from both sides

therefore,

x - 5 = 0

x = 5

hence,

The value of x is 5 .
