(x - 2)(x - p) = {x}^{2} - ax + 6 \\ {x}^{2} - (p + 2)x + 2p = {x}^{2} - ax + 6 \\ on \: comparison \: \\ 2p = 6 \\ p = 3 \\ and \: p + 2 = a \\ a = 3 + 2 = 5 \\ now \\ a - p \\ = 5 - 3 = 2

hope it helps
