x(x−8)+y(x−8)x(x-8)+y(x-8)
Factor the polynomial by factoring out the greatest common factor, x−8x-8.
(x−8)(x+y)
Factor the polynomial by factoring out the greatest common factor, x−8x-8.
(x−8)(x+y)

x²+XY+8x+8y=0
taking x terms and y terms separately
x²+8x+XY+8y=0
taking x & y terms as common
X(x-8)+y(x-8)=0
x-8 as common
(x-8)(X+y)=0
x-8=0. =>X=8
X+y=0. 8+y=0.
=>y= -8
the value of X = 8
the value of Y= -8
taking x terms and y terms separately
x²+8x+XY+8y=0
taking x & y terms as common
X(x-8)+y(x-8)=0
x-8 as common
(x-8)(X+y)=0
x-8=0. =>X=8
X+y=0. 8+y=0.
=>y= -8
the value of X = 8
the value of Y= -8
