Step-by-step explanation:

Given : x=2sin^2\theta   and  y=2cos^2\theta+1 .

To find : the value of x+y

Trigonometric identity used :

Sin^2\thet+Cos^2\theta=1

  • Calculation for x+y

We have the values of x and y as,

x=2sin^2\theta   and  y=2cos^2\theta+1

so the x+y,

⇒  x+y=2sin^2\theta+2cos^2\theta+1

taking 2 common from trigonometric functions,

⇒  x+y=2(sin^2\theta+cos^2\theta)+1

by using trigonometry identity,

Sin^2\thet+Cos^2\theta=1

⇒  x+y=2(1)+1

             =2+1

             =3

Hence we get the value of x+y=3.
