D=b²-4ac

=>(-2)²-4(1)(-4)=4+16=20

alpha=(-b+√D)/2a

=>(-(-2)+√20)/2

=>(2+√20)/2

similarly, bitta =(2-√20)/2

so,

x=(2+√20)/2 or (2-√20)/2
