x+2y=1---1
3x-y=17----2
equation 1+2×2
x+2y=1
6x-2y=34

7x=35
x=5
now
put the value of X in x+2y=1
5+2y=1
2y=-4
y=-2
sorry for previous one...
actually maine wrong sign use Kiya tha..

aayushtripathi: -2y -2y kaise cut hua
dityashahni: wait correction krti hu
dityashahni: sorry
aayushtripathi: thanks mera answer ab aa gaya hai
aayushtripathi: your answer is wrong

Given Equation is x + 2y = 1 ------ (1)

Given Equation is 3x - y = 17 ------ (2)

On Multiplying equation (1) * 3, we get

= > 3x + 6y = 3 ----- (3)

Now,

On solving (2) & (3), we get

= > 3x + 6y = 3

= > 3x - y = 17

----------------

7y = -14

y = -2.

Substitute y = -2 in (2), we get

= > 3x - y = 17

= > 3x - (-2) = 17

We know that (- * -) = +

= > 3x + 2 = 17

= > 3x = 17 - 2

= > 3x = 15

= > x = 5.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 = > Answer : \boxed{x = 5, y = -2}}

Hope this helps!

aayushtripathi: Kya karte hai
aayushtripathi: math teacher hai kya
siddhartharao77: This is called as elimination method. We can solve it using substition or cross-multiplication method also.
aayushtripathi: mujhe pata tha
aayushtripathi: lekin aap ko hamse jada pata hai
siddhartharao77: ok
