On Multiplying equation (1) * 3, we get

= > 3x + 6y = 3 ----- (3)

Now,

On solving (2) & (3), we get

= > 3x + 6y = 3

= > 3x - y = 17

y = -2.

Substitute y = -2 in (2), we get

= > 3x - y = 17

= > 3x - (-2) = 17

= > 3x + 2 = 17
