Answer:
If we subtract both equations we will get:
x + 2y = 1
x - y = 2
- + -
y = -1
so x will be: x-(-1) = 2
x + 1 = 2
x = 2-1 = 1
now.... putting values of x and y in equations
1 + 2 (-1) = 1
1 - 2 = 1
-1 = 1 which is false.... so this equation is not balanced
1 - (-1) = 2
1+1 = 2
2 = 2 which is true....so this equation is balanced
