We know that the point which lies on x-axis has its ordinate 0.
So, putting y=0 we get:
x+2×0=8⇒x=8
hence, (8,0) lies on the x-axis
(ii) We know that the point which lies on y-axis has its abscissa 0.
So, putting x=0 we get:
0+2y=8⇒2y=8⇒y=4
hence, (0,4) lies on the y-axis
