Answer:

Equation 1 = x - 2y = -2

Equation 2 = x + 2y = 10

Adding both the equations we get,

⇒ x - 2y + x + 2y = -2 + 10

⇒ 2x + 0y = 8

⇒ 2x = 8

⇒ x = 8/2 = 4

Substituting the value of x in any of the equations we get,

Substituting in Equation 1 here, we get,

⇒ x - 2y = -2

⇒ 4 - 2y = -2

⇒ 4 + 2 = 2y

⇒ 6 = 2y

⇒ y = 6/2 = 3

Therefore the value of x is 4 and y is 3

Heya!!

x - 2y = - 2 \\ x = - 2 + 2y = > equation \: 1

x + 2y = 10 \\ x = 10 - 2y = > equation \: 2

Now, equation 1 = equation 2

 - 2 + 2y = 10 - 2y \\ 2y + 2y = 10 + 2 \\ 4y = 12 \\ y = \frac{12}{4} = 3

x = 10 - 2y \\ x = 10 - 2 \times 3 \\ x = 10 - 6 = 4

Hope it helps...!!!
